Press Pass Lie
from: Gerty
I once worked for a small cable television company
that tried to compete with the big boys (CNN, ABC, etc.)
They sent me out on an news assignment, and told me to lie
about my name so I could receive the adequate press credentials.
When I told the screeners at the assignment my (false) identity,
they greeted me wholeheartedly and introduced themselves as
though we'd been old friends who'd never met face to face.
Then they made me take a picture to put on my (fake)
name badge. All day long I was introduced as this other
person, and people would say, "Hey, glad to finally meet
you in person." I would smile and cut it short. I don't
know if the real person ever showed up, but I didn't stick
around to find out.
