A Potato Works In A Pinch

from: Angela

When I was in high school, I went out with a boyfriend, but had lied to my parents that I was at a girlfriend's house. When I was late getting home, my mother called my girlfriend's house to inquire as to where I was. My girlfriend told her that I had just left, and then called me at my boyfriend's house to tell me that my mom was looking for me.

I rushed! I drove home, and told my parents that the reason that it took me so long to get home was because I had car trouble. I told them that on the way home, my car had just stalled for no discernable reason. I said that another driver stopped to aid me, and discovered a potatoe in my tailpipe (supposedly, as a prank, people would put potatoes in your tailpipe, and that would cause your car to stall). I told them that we removed it, the car started back up, and I  drove on home. I guess my parent's were forced to believe my outlandish story, they didn't ground me or anything, but they never asked me about it again, either.
