: : It is the goal of the Human Ego to convince us that there is no God. Let's face it, human beings are the most self absorbed creatures on the planet. Who are we to even question the existance of God. I mean, if there is a God and you believe, GREAT! If there is no God and you believe GREAT! I mean, live your life trying to do for others and to be of service to the human race, practice kindness and love, be non-judgemental....what is wrong with that. Yaddah, yaddah, blah, blah, we all know that thousands of people have died in the name of religion. Let's get this straight. Religion is NOT God. Religion is people and people are imperfect. God is perfect. If there is a God and you don't believe are you going to burn in hell? If you are a parent you will know the answer to this question. I am a father of two young men and I can not think of anything that that they could do, however heinious, that I could not forgive them. Religion is for people who are afraid of going to Hell. Spirituality is for those who have already been there. The open-minded see the truth in different things: the narrow-minded see only the differences. Have a great day and thank you for listening. :-)

: Wow, a well-written intelligent post :)
: Let me just guide others towards it!
: A sort of believe in humanity rather than religion view which I empathise with.

: Only point I would disagree with is that I think the majority of humans seek a parental figure to guide them (i.e. God). Humans seek reasons and answers and that is why most would rather believe in a being which can answer the unexplained rather than be scared not knowing.

Actually, I think that we, as humans, all seek a higher authority to either guide us in or justify our actions.

Be it parents.

Or God.

Or some other higher being.

Or our own sense of morality in something else.

Also, actions to benefit humanity is excellent. However, it is my belief that without God actions are somewhat empty. That is not to say the results are empty to the receipients and therefore get nothing of value, but the question is why.

Christianity is really not based on the fear of Hell. At least for you or any readers, I hope not. It is based upon unity. Binding each believer in a linkage with God. Christianity brings the reason behind the actions. Or in other words, the why.

So, we as Christians now have a why as well an action. That is really important. There is a reason for the doing what we do. A Christian without the reasoning has a somewhat empty belief.

Well, just something to ponder...

Thanks for reading,

James 5:16
