: That's awfully evasive. Hmm, how can anyone trust someone who can't admit that they have lied? Serious question.
Dear Curious Girl,

May I call you "Curious," since I don't know your given name? How can you trust anyone to be telling you the truth? Of course, I have lied. I try to be as honest and truthful as I can be, most of the time, but, I am a poet, and, as you well know, ALL poets are liars!

Robert

: : : Hey Mr. Robert the pious -- are you saying you ain't never lied or what?

: : Dear Curious Girl,

: : This is what I am saying, "Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies!" All poets are liars, and that's the truth!

: : Robert, (the not quite so pious)

: : : : : Dear Ella --

: : : : : That is a sad and cynical perspective. Hunting and lying can not be equated. Carnivorous animals have no choice but to hunt. You on the other hand have been granted the ability to think and to choose. You can choose not to lie. That's you're right. But if you do choose to lie, you can expect that others will lie back to you.

: : : : :
: : : : : : The question has to be asked isn't lieing just a variation on the hunting instinct, a method of survival in a modern world? Women frequently moan about being lied to by the male of the species but aren't women just as devious in their own way, manipulation by emotion rather then outright lieing per se ? Men lie in a more basic form but women turn on the water works or fake arousal to meet their own ends...come on dont we all know girls that a blow job can reap wonderful rewards..isn't that in it's own way lieing? an individual will believe even the most blatant of lies if it serves their own ends at the time. However you may express it..path of least resistance whatever lieing is a part of human psychology towards survival. As with the animal kingdom if your no good at hunting you starve, if your no good at lieing the social equivilent awaits....

: : : : Dear Ella,

: : : : Lying is not instinctual, hunting techniques are taught, even in the animal world. If the parent provider, (usually the female), does not teach her off-spring how to hunt, they might, eventually, starve to death, or end up as total scavengers trying to vie for scraps from hyenas and vultures. If there is any comparison to be made between lying and hunting, people do both, again, I think, these are learned behaviors, which may be defensive, protective, offensive, aggressive. Are you a hunter who kills to survive? Are you a liar hunting for someone to believe your lies? Don't put the blame for lying on natural instinct, fight or flight, kill or be killed. You were carefully taught how to lie, but it is not a natural survival skill!

: : : : Peace & Love,

: : : : Robert
