I hate to burst your atom, but atoms are not energy. atoms have mass, which is diametrically opposed to energy (i.e., mass:energy::black:white). And just because WE cannot create or destroy energy doesn't mean that it is an impossibility (consider us humans: we can't live in peace, but it's theoretically possible).
I like the thought that the knowledge of ultimate truth lies within the energy that surrounds us. I also agree that there's something keeping us from understanding what's really going on (which may also be the thing keeping us from peace). I'd add to your comment that I believe matter and energy are two sides to the same coin, such is black and white, positive and negative, heaven and earth, God and the devil, red wine and white wine, etc.
