Lies People Tell hopes to be the World Wide Web's multicultural resource covering international lies.  We need lies from all over the world.  Here are some of the lies we have already received from around the world.  Do we have one from your country?  If not, send one in!  I would like to publish it in the language of the country of origin and in English, so please send it in both languages if you can.

Sometimes we get lucky at Lies People Tell and contributors will tell us about their country.  For those of you who don't know about Trinidad and Tobago, here is the skinny from someone who lives there:

From Hel, in Trinidad and Tobago

In my country, Trinidad and Tobago, English is the official language. In some of the other West Indian islands, however, such as Martinique and Guadeloupe, French is spoken; so English is not the only language.

The West Indies is an archipelago not too far from South America. It encloses the Caribbean Sea, and is hence also known as the Caribbean. It is called the West Indies because when Columbus discovered the region, he was looking for India, and thought that he must have reached there. That's also how the natives he found came to be called Indians.

Trinidad is the southernmost island in the West Indies, and northeast of Trinidad is Tobago, our "sister island". Trinidad and Tobago is known for Steelpan, which was invented here and is our national instrument, as well as calypso, soca, and limbo, all of which originated here. We are also famous for our Carnival, which is often referred to as "the greatest show on earth".

Hebrew  is the  language of the Bible. We use everyday words without realising their Biblical significance. The word  lie, SHEKER,  appears many times in the Bible.

A liar is SHAKRAN.
